Understanding Tracking Links

Using Airbridge tracking links in your campaign is one of the ways Airbridge can collect campaign data. Continue reading to learn about the essential functions of tracking links and the tracking link types supported by Airbridge.

Tracking links have 2 essential functions, which are:

  • Collecting touchpoints

  • Redirecting users to intended destinations

When a user clicks an ad with a tracking link embedded, click data is collected, and the user is redirected to the configured destination.

A typical use case of the tracking link would look like the following.

A typical tracking link looks like the following:

  • https://abr.ge/@app_name/channel_name?parameter1={parameter1 value}&parameter2={parameter2 value}

By adding parameters to the tracking link, additional campaign data can be collected, or users can be redirected to specific destinations.

If you want to learn more about the tracking link structure and the parameters that are used, refer to this article.

To track your campaign on ad channels that are integrated with Airbridge, you need to create tracking links for Integrated Channels. This type of tracking link collects campaign data and sends postbacks according to the established method pre-organized with the Integrated Channels.

Below is a sample tracking link for an Integrated Channel.

To track your campaign on your owned or earned media channels, such as your website, social media platforms, or emails, you need to create tracking links for Custom Channels. This type of tracking link can be configured to collect the data as you like.

Tracking links for Custom Channels come in a long link version, a short link version, and a QR code version, so you can choose from them to meet your marketing needs.

Below are sample tracking links in long and short link versions for a Custom Channel.

  • Long link version: https://your_app_name.your_domain.co/@your_app_name/custom_channel_name?ad_creative=320x480&ad_group=20s&campaign=summer_sale&content=yellow_roses&og_tag_id=16499350&routing_short_id=plpjc0&tracking_template_id=c31b909a9994e40460e2bc270b3165bb&ad_type=click
