Web Campaign Tracking - Google Ads

    With Airbridge, you can track and measure your Google Ads web campaigns.

    Web Campaign Tracking Setup

    The required setup method depends on whether the Airbridge SDK is installed on the campaign landing page, where users are redirected after clicking the ad. Applying multiple settings simultaneously may result in duplicate counting of touchpoints, which could lead to an underestimation of actual performance. Make sure to choose and implement only 1 method that best suits your campaign.

    When the Airbridge SDK is installed on the campaign landing page

    You can use the final URL suffix or the UTM parsing to track web campaigns that send users to a website where the Airbridge SDK is installed.

    Use the final URL suffix

    The final URL suffix optimized for Google web campaign tracking can be found in the Airbridge dashboard. By adding it at the account level in Google Ads, you can track Google Ads web campaigns that send users to a website where the Airbridge SDK is installed.

    Attention

    The final URL suffix provided in the Airbridge dashboard must be added only at the account level in Google Ads. The final URL suffix in Google Ads can be added at the account, campaign, ad group, ad, and keyword levels. By adding the final URL suffix only at the account level, which is the highest level, the added final URL suffix can be applied to all ads created using your account. This way, you don’t have to get ad approval whenever the final URL suffix changes and ensure the web campaigns are tracked by Airbridge.

    1. In the Airbridge dashboard, navigate to [Integration]>[Ad Channel Integration], select Google Ads, and select the [Web Campaign Integration] tab.

    2. In the [Final URL Suffix] tab, click the final URL suffix to copy it.

    3. In Google Ads, navigate to [Admin]>[Account settings] and click Tracking.

    4. Paste the final URL suffix copied from the Airbridge dashboard into the final URL suffix input field. The final URL suffix in the Airbridge dashboard is optimized for Google Ads web campaign tracking and doesn’t require additional edits.

    5. Make sure the [Parallel tracking] toggle is switched on. Then, click Save to finish the setup.

    Note

    Parallel tracking is a default feature provided for all campaigns except for app campaigns and hotel campaigns. For tracking optimization, make sure parallel tracking is activated when setting up the web campaign tracking.

    Use UTM parameters

    You can track Google Ads web campaigns by using the Airbridge SDK to parse UTM parameters added to the Google Ads final URL.

    Airbridge’s attribution model prioritizes the touchpoints collected through tracking links or SAN integrations over touchpoints collected through UTM parsing when determining the winning touchpoint. Therefore, for a more accurate attribution result, use the final URL suffix to track web campaigns. For more details, refer to this article.

    1. Enable UTM parsing in the Airbridge web SDK. For detailed instructions, refer to this article.

    2. Add the UTM parameters to the final URL when creating the Google Ads web campaign. The parameter mapping table is as follows.

    Attention

    If you are adding UTM parameters to your final URL, make sure you add the utm_source parameter. Without the utm_source parameter, the UTM parsing won’t work regardless of whether other parameters are added or not.

    When the Airbridge SDK is not installed on the campaign landing page

    You can use the tracking template to track web campaigns that send users to a website or web store where the Airbridge SDK is not installed. Attribution for data generated and collected across different types of platforms require additional configuration. Refer to this section to proceed with the configuration if needed.

    Use the tracking template

    The tracking template optimized for Google web campaign tracking can be found in the Airbridge dashboard. Follow the instructions below to add it at the account level in Google Ads.

    Attention

    The tracking template provided in the Airbridge dashboard must be added only at the account level in Google Ads. The tracking template in Google Ads can be added at the account, campaign, ad group, ad, and keyword levels. By adding the tracking template only at the account level, which is the highest level, the added tracking template can be applied to all ads created using your account. This way, you don’t have to get ad approval whenever the tracking template changes and ensure the web campaigns are tracked by Airbridge.

    Reporting

    Once you have completed the integration setup, you can view the Google Ads app web campaign data in the Actuals Report. Refer to the following table for the report configuration and get a comprehensive view of the conversions from different platforms.
