Migrating to Airbridge

Migrating to Airbridge from another MMP is seamless, with support at every step.

Migration process at a glance

Airbridge migration runs in seven steps. Steps jointly owned by marketers and developers can run in parallel, and the exact order or timeline may vary depending on your situation.

Note

  • Complete all migration steps before releasing an app with the Airbridge SDK installed.

  • Pause ad campaigns and promotions while uploading identifiers.

Step 1: Register app and prepare event taxonomy (Marketer)

Set up your Airbridge environment and data structure before starting the migration.

  • Register your app in Airbridge. Once registered, you can invite users and find SDK and API integration details for that app.

  • Prepare your event taxonomy. The event taxonomy defines Airbridge events that collect end-user behavior at the event level.

  • Review the Airbridge attribution model. Since each MMP uses a different attribution model, configure the attribution rules you need in advance.

Attention

The [Tokens] menu is only accessible to Owner, Marketer, and Agency accounts. We recommend that marketers review the details and share them with developers, rather than granting developers direct access.

Step 2: Install and test the SDK (Developer)

Install the Airbridge SDK, then configure event collection and deep linking. SDK and API integration details for each app are available under Airbridge dashboard [Settings]>[Tokens]. The marketer who registered the app in Step 1 should share these details with the developer, along with the SDK Quickstart guide.

  • Configure the SDK to collect end-user behavior defined in your event taxonomy as Airbridge events.

  • Set up deep links so end-users who click ads with Airbridge tracking links land on specific in-app screens.

Once the SDK is installed, you can test it per platform. See Test the Airbridge SDK for marketers guide for details.

Step 3: Clean up the previous MMP (Developer)

Attention

Cleaning up the previous MMP directly affects data integrity during migration. If postback settings and SAN integrations aren't disabled, events may be counted twice across Airbridge and the previous MMP, or your media channels may run duplicate optimization.

Clean up settings related to your previous MMP alongside the Airbridge SDK installation.

  • Remove the previous MMP SDK. If you'll continue using the previous MMP's SDK or features in parallel for a period, make sure they don't conflict with Airbridge features. See the guide for details.

  • Be sure to remove the previous MMP's postback settings.

  • In your SAN channels, be sure to remove the setting that designates the previous MMP as the attribution partner.

Step 4: Upload identifiers (Developer, Data engineer)

Note

Identifier upload is optional. You can skip this step if you don't have identifiers collected from the previous MMP, or if you don't need to smooth out the discrepancy in ad performance before and after migration.

Right after you onboard Airbridge, first events may occur more often than usual. This happens because the user data Airbridge needs to determine whether an event is a first event only starts being collected at this point.

Uploading device IDs or user IDs per event during early Airbridge onboarding smooths out the discrepancy in ad performance before and after onboarding.

Decide whether to upload identifiers based on the following criteria:

  • If you have device IDs or user IDs collected from the previous MMP, identifier upload is recommended.

  • If minimizing the discrepancy in ad performance before and after Airbridge onboarding is a priority, identifier upload is recommended.

  • If neither applies, you can skip identifier upload.

Step 5: Connect ad channels (Marketer, Developer)

Connect media channels to collect data. For non-SAN channels, you can collect data through tracking links. Before running live campaigns, we recommend verifying that data flows in correctly via the integrations and tracking links.

Additional tasks, depending on your setup:

  • To keep using tracking links from the previous MMP, convert them into Airbridge tracking links.

  • To measure iOS campaign performance with SKAdNetwork (SKAN), set up

    SKAN authentication

    and related configurations.

  • To continue using existing third-party solutions, connect them to Airbridge.

  • To use a data storage service, connect it to Airbridge.

Step 6: Prepare performance reporting (Marketer)

Set up how you'll review performance in the Airbridge dashboard. Airbridge offers a variety of reports to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs). To view data in your preferred format, use Sharelinks or Raw Data Export.

Step 7: Release the app (Developer)

Once everything from the previous steps is ready, release the app with the Airbridge SDK installed. You're all set to take advantage of the features Airbridge offers.
